Sharp-eyed Ultranaut’s reader, Kevin, has been shopping for an Asus R2H and stumbled upon this very, very interesting tidbit at one of the etailers of the new device:
Important Note: US model will ship with the “Optional - Double Capacity” 6860mAh 48W/hr Polymer Battery
instead of the slightly lighter and shorter lasting 3430mAh 24W/hr that is “Standard” around the world.
If this is true of all US-bound R2Hs, then this is great news. We’re working to get confirmation. Can anyone else confirm if this is a territory-wide deal or just specific to some resellers? Check it out via Proportable.

I just got my R2H and they have the extended batteries, I guess all US models would have it. Check out here for actual pictures

I JUST got a new US Asus R2H this week. I bought the morning it appeared on the Newegg web site. I now have it in hand and can confirm it came with the 48w battery ! (And it is heavier than my Samsung Q1)
Can one of you with the larger battery post the weight difference? Thanks!

Ooops, I just realized that the new owners may not know the weight difference since they have only one battery. So, I’ll amend my comment to include anyone who might know how much weight the larger battery adds to the unit.
