Sure the new SA1F00 pseudo-UMPC looks great from far-away. Skinny. Stylish. Striking features. But, when you get a little closer, it all goes to hell. Under-nourished. Brainless. Slow. Check out the specs:
AMD 500MHz Geode LX800 CPU, a 7-inch 800×480 touch-sensitive (?) display, up to 1GB of memory and 80GB of disk, 802.11b/g WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, 3-in-1 memory card and CF card slots, and respectable 5-hour battery. Price runs ¥89,000 (approx $754) with 40GB disk and ¥109,800 (approx $930) for an 80GB model.
Yep, it’s cheap and it might be fun to play with for a day, but you’re not going to want to take this one home and introduce to all your other gadgets to. The AMD Geode is just a deal killer.
