I am not Primaz but have read articles reporting weak interest of the devices thus far. The numbers available seem no where near what people have hoped for. Getting close to one year and it appears the sales overall are not even 500K.

What I read from tech stock analysts seem to indicate that within 3 years the UMPC market should obtan 3 million. If the sales are nowhere near that mark you will likely see even more critics of the platform which may sway MS to loose focus? I do not believe this example proves a market for the current devices. I think the UMPC market needs new hardware and agree with the idea of more computing power and or more pocket size variations.

Can you back up your statement about sales being weak?
I posted just a few days ago that Asus has sold more than 40,000 units since September. That's around 20000 per month. Is this a weak number for you?

I don't know but you style seems to me known. are you Primaz at origami project forum?

Dropping the price on a very small quanity does not statistically prove the market is there for those UMPC's. Rather it seems like it just proves what all the press, and reviews have been saying, that is the devices are missing a lot of functionality and are not selling so they are selling them at a loss. It has been about 10 months with MS putting millions in marketing and the sales are weak, no where near the millions computer industry analysts say the UMPC's need establish to survive.

The UMPC's need major hardware upgrades along with price drops to sell better. Ideally they need more to differentiate such as a more pocket size versions to justify the price. People will pay more for a keyboard based laptop in your pocket, that would be a great evolution for UMPC devices.

This is really really interesting. Its the first real sales statistic i've seen in the 8 months since Origami was launched.
I just wonder how they managed to get hold of 193 'refurbished' UMPCs.
Well done on spotting this info.
Steve.
